What is Baby Dedication?
Baby dedication is a public commitment to raise your child in a Godly way. You make this commitment before God, your church, and your family.
The dedication service provides you with an opportunity to publicly express your desire to lead and spiritually nurture your child in cooperation with the Holy Spirit.
Is it the same as Baptism?
Dedication is not the same as baptism. Dedication is a decision you make. Baptism is a choice your child will make when he or she is old enough to make that commitment.
Every occurrence of baptism in the Bible took place after a person heard the Good News and believed. At Community Church, we celebrate baptism the same way.
We baptize anyone who has received the Word and made a personal decision to put his or her faith in Jesus.
Babies are not able to make that decision. Parents can make the decision to commit their children to Christ through a dedication service.
No. There is no water involved in the dedication service.
During the dedication, you will hold your baby while a pastor says a blessing over them.
You do not have to be married to dedicate your child.
If you are dedicating your baby and your older children have not yet been dedicated, they may join their sibling in the dedication service.
There is no fee to dedicate your baby.
